I've had an up and down week, on Wednesday I attempted to 'sort out my life', It's something I do about every 3 months. Around the Christmas period, I did a similar thing and although I've worked through most of those suggestions, it doesn't seem to have propelled me much further on. My big idea this time round was ...music, maybe music could be the way out. The only problem is, at the time of writing, I can't play a musical instrument, I haven't got a great singing voice and despite being a 'poet' I'm no lyricist. Having said that, it's not done Cheryl Cole any harm. (I must stop picking on her).
If you think that is ridiculous, my big idea the other week was becoming a boxer, despite being in my mid-thirties with a dodgy back, and an aversion to being punched in the face. Yet I was still considering it.
Talking of jobs, I receive the Arts Council Jobs update mailouts, so each week i get to see what jobs are out there in the Arts world. Often what is advertised isn't actually a job, as they don't involve payment. In the past that was called exploitation, now I think they call it an 'internship'. (satire ladies and gentlemen). One of the unpaid jobs I saw was for a still life model, it explained that despite not being able to pay a fee, it would be good experience. Seriously, how much experience do you need to sit still, probably in a state of undress.
Probably my biggest achievement of last week was finishing the book I was reading 'Couples' by John Updike. It's set in a small American town where there is a lot of bed hopping, some behind partners backs and some with partners consent. It made me think about the concept of swinging. I've got to admit, I don't think I could do it, for a start I don't like to be judged generally, nevermind in the old trouser/bedroom department. You've seen how badly I took that review from 5 yrs ago. (see blog posted March 15th), so imagine if I got negative feedback from the swinger in question. I don't know if you do get feedback.
And Finally... some of you eagle eyed readers may have noticed that I have given this post a proper title. Normally I just put the date, but I was reading a book about blogging (I lead an exciting life) that people won't read a blog if it hasn't got a catchy title. So I've decided to change my ways, so expect to see this blog shoot up the blog charts, Woohoo!!!
Til next week, stay safe!
