WRITING WORKSHOPS
Julian believes creativity is for everyone, all you need is the tools to access it.
Julian has facilitated creative writing/poetry workshops since 2002. He's run sessions in prisons, young offenders' institutions and wellbeing centres to more conventional settings such as schools, theatres and organisations like
The Roald Dahl Museum and the BBC.
Like his own writing, Julian's workshops are fun, easily accessible and engaging. His strength is his ability to get people who don't think they are creative to produce work they are proud of. The workshops are suitable for primary school children to adults and will interest those that write short stories, poems, lyrics or just want to have fun with words.
Julian can tailor his workshops to fit in with a theme or use his existing templates to produce a more general writing session. This flexibility has allowed him to work on projects, such as Peace Week, Mental Health projects and Black History Month.
Work produced from a series of workshops Julian held in a prison went on to win Gold at the Koestler Awards.
"Julian’s workshops give youngsters, of all ages, an immensely enjoyable writing experience; they gain a fascinating insight into the dynamic nature of poetry.Through these workshops, they are not only inspired to produce some fantastic work but they also discover the depths of their own creativity."
Miss Keville - English Teacher, South London secondary school (2015)
In addition to these workshops, Julian also delivers talks on writing and the creative industries.
